In this week's Dental Handoff, Dr. Kelly is joined by speaker, consultant, author, and owner of Oral Cancer Consulting, Susan Cotten! They discuss the importance of early screening for HPV and oral cancers and how Susan developed the "Cotten Method" to help do just that for her patients! Known for her expertise on HPV, oral cancer, and head and neck evaluation, she developed the "Cotten Method", a dental practice operating system and screening method designed to increase confidence in screening, aid in reducing the risk of liability, and increase early detection. Susan is a consultant and Dental Workgroup Lead for the Alliance for HPV Free Colorado, a director for Dental Codeology Consortium, a Regional Coordinator and RDH Advisory board member for the Oral Cancer Foundation, and a 2018 Sunstar/RDH Award of Distinction recipient. Susan is a 2020 recipient of the Ethyl Covington award and 2018 Outstanding Contribution award, both from the Colorado Dental Hygienists' Association. She has organized countless free screening events, including screenings at the Denver Broncos Health and Wellness Expo.
